Left to right, top to bottom: Syuri, Nanaka, Sana, Syusuke, and Aoi.
Sakuranomori is the birthplace of Sana Hidaka, a sixteen year old high school student, who grew up with his childhood friend Nanaka Yatsushiro, Aoi Oribe, his best male friend Syusuke Wakatsuki, and his twin sister Syuri Wakatsuki. Sana left Sakuranomori when he was eleven years old, but returns five years later living on his own in the apartment building Aoi’s family runs. Sana soon finds out that while some things have stayed the same, there are still just as many things that have changed.

Dai-kyō「大凶 「だいきょう」」 was what was written on Sana’s Omikuji, it means misfortune, great curse, terrible luck, or atrocity in Japanese.
Visitors to a shinto shrine can purchase an arrow, write their wish or prayer and tie it to the arrow then places it at the shrine.
17 years old Aoi. Many viewers can’t stand the pitch of her voice, I think it’s bearable though. Just concentrate on the boobs.
Sana overdid the “concentrate on the boobs” part and his nose started gushing blood.
Sana’s private stash.
Aoi’s parents.
Sana’s fantasy.
Japan and their pretty teachers, policewomen, etc…
Syusuke or Shuu as Sana calls him. Voiced by Takehito Koyasu who also did Mu La Flaga in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED+Destiny.
Best shot of the episode.
Overall this episode gives a Kanon-ish School Days feel. More Kanon than School Days. Even if Sana’s anything like Makoto, I doubt things would get out of hand as they actually featured Aoi’s parents. In School Days, all you see are the students, petting, implied sex, and death. No parents were shown that could keep their children from running amok. Will all the girls fall for Sana Kanon style? Probably not, according to the visual novel, there are two male protagonists. Sana and Syusuke. So we’re unlikely to see Kanon all over again as well. So, what did Sana do to deserve that 美しい 「うつくしい」 slap from Nanako? What was Syusuke trying to tell Sana when he was leaving? Why did Sana come back? I guess I’ll be watching on to find out.

I love the glow-y warm lighting in the first few scenes. Looks like a good production! Let’s hope the storyline pulls through!
