Apart from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED and Destiny, this is the third Gundam series that I’m watching. Based on a different universe and era, unlike SEED and Destiny, there are no genetically enhanced humans(coordinators) who can pilot mobile suits more efficiently than regular humans. That seemed to be the main reason how coordinators in Gundams can take down entire fleet of enemies easily. In this series it seems that everyone is only human. Perhaps that is why Sunrise is focusing on faster, more powerful, and specialized Gundams to set the pilots apart from the rest. With images and some captions, I’ll introduce the Gundams that appeared in the first episode below.
G00? G0D?
GN-001 Gundam Exia, a mobile suit that owes its extraordinary maneuverability and stealthiness to conventional radar, and close-combat deadliness to the revolutionary GN drive and seven swords.
The shot from AEU’s mobile suit seems to have been deflected by something or totally missed Exia.
Once again, the enemy’s shot just grazes the bright light particles around Exia.
GN-002 Gundam Dynames, which is reconfigurable per mission with a variety of guns (including a standard GN sniper rifle).
If you remember, this is a Haro that was featured in SEED and Destiny. It was made for Lacus Clyne by Athrun Zala. In this series, looks like it may serve roles similiar to R2-D2 in Star Wars.
Notice the scope-like lens on its forehead.
GN-003 Gundam Kyrios, the team’s only fully transformable Gundam. It has a flight mode with reconfigurable weapon modules.
Pity we didn’t get to see it transform in this episode.
GN-005 Gundam Virtue, the most heavily armed and armored Gundam of the four known ones. Its weapons include the GN Bazooka and GN Cannon, and its defenses include the GN Field barrier.
Exia and Dynames offline after battle.
Thus, this far we have,
GN-001 Gundam Exia
GN-002 Gundam Dynames
GN-003 Gundam Kyrios
GN-004 Gundam ?
GN-005 Gundam Virtue
What about the first Gundam that saved young Setsuna and made him a believer of G0D? GN-00? This series is called Gundam 00 after all.
You can find more images and a different perspective at Danny Choo’s Gundam 00 post. For more in depth coverage on the synopsis and characters, DarkMirage and Riuva are the places to go.

Mecha proportions look better than seed but still find it hard to like the new designs, kinda reminds me of turn A.

It has gotten pretty good so far, but I don’t think I’ll write a post for every episode. This post was to give people an introduction of some sort with images and to help them decide whether they want to start watching the series.
